I used to lecture computational methods
to 3rd year students of civil engineering and 4th year students of
computer science (one-cycle studies)
within a course called "Computer Methods".
The course contained an introduction to approximation methods and
the finite element method for the solution of ordinary differential
equations, 1D civil engineering structures (trusses, beams, frames),
stationary heat flow and continuum mechanics.
Classes were run in one of our Linux/MSWindows labs with
the application of
Octave or
Matlab or
Mathcad ,
Calfem and
Ansys .
The description of the courses is available
here (in Polish).
